Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Associate Production Director serves as the primary technical lead and Director for our studio productions. Beyond technical execution, you will be responsible for the creative integrity and visual/audio presentation of the livestream, the professional development of the crew, and the seamless integration of technology and talent. In this role, your focus will shift from day-to-day equipment operation to the total orchestration of the production environment, ensuring a world‑class experience for both our talent and our global members.

YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT PELOTON
  • Partner with Producing and Creative Services teams to translate creative visions into reality. You will make real‑time editorial decisions during live broadcasts, utilizing innovation, imagination, and originality to enhance storytelling and engagement. The Associate Production Director is the final creative decision‑maker regarding the look and sound of live and on‑demand workout classes.
  • Guide the execution of live and coach‑to‑camera, on‑demand workout classes, acting as the primary Creative and Technical Director to ensure high‑production value through precise camera blocking, lighting transitions, and audio fidelity.
  • Lead and support a team of 1–2 Production Technicians during live broadcasts, providing clear, real‑time cues and ensuring all positions (Audio, Camera, Vision) meet production standards.
  • Maintain accountability for the final artistic aesthetic and technical quality of the broadcast, proactively identifying and adjusting deviations from brand style guides.
  • Serve as the designated Control Room Lead, managing daily production workflows and coordinating tasks among the production crew to ensure operational success.
  • Collaborate with Senior Leadership to design and implement training programs for Production Technicians, providing constructive feedback and mentorship to elevate the team’s collective technical proficiency and knowledge.
  • Maintain and update all SOPs, including style guides and technical workflows.
  • Lead the technical planning and execution for critical internal and/or external projects.
  • Partner with Senior Management, Supervisors, and Engineering to identify workflow inefficiencies; propose and test new hardware/software solutions.
  • Act as the primary escalation point during technical failures, making decisive, independent choices under time‑sensitive constraints to maintain product integrity.
YOU BRING TO PELOTON
  • 4+ years of experience directing or technical directing in a live control room/broadcast environment (e.g., TV, News, Sports, or Live Streaming).

  • Demonstrated ability to guide and support a technical crew calmly and effectively during live, fast‑paced broadcasts; experience supervising small teams or direct reports is preferred.
  • A systems‑oriented mindset with the ability to troubleshoot complex signal paths and IP‑based broadcast workflows independently.
  • Ability to work a variable production schedule, which includes a rotation of early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays based on the broadcast calendar.
