Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a Power System Protection Engineer to provide expert technical support and develop solutions for protection schemes. Based in Jackson, MS, you will teach customers, design demonstrations, and analyze relay responses to faults while supporting SEL products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 1+ year of experience with power system protection and relays.
• Experience with utility and/or industrial power systems focusing on protection, control, and operations.
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a desire to learn new technologies.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to travel 25% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Work with customers to apply new technologies or solutions to their power systems.
• Design models and demonstrations of new technologies or solutions to teach customers.
• Support SEL products and solution troubleshooting to reach root cause.
• Analyze responses of protective relays to power system faults.
• Teach customers how to use SEL products and how protective relays protect equipment.
• Contribute to and review white papers, application guides, industry journals, and technical papers.
