Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking a skilled Power System Protection Engineer to join our Engineering Services team. You will design, test, implement, and validate protection and control schemes to ensure reliable operation of critical electrical infrastructure.

You will work with relay protection experts, coordinate with project teams, perform testing and commissioning, and stay current with IEEE, IEC, and NERC/FERC standards.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline.
• 3+ years in electric power systems protection design.
• Strong knowledge of relay protection and coordination.
• Familiar with IEEE, IEC, and NERC/FERC standards.
• Willing to travel 25% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement protection and control schemes.
• Create protective relay settings for utilities and industrial clients.
• Collaborate with project teams to assess requirements.
• Perform testing and commissioning of protection schemes.
• Support customers with installation and operation of protection systems.
• Follow SEL values and world-class manufacturing principles.
