Job summary

Thurston County's CPED seeks an Associate Planner to lead long-range planning, focusing on growth management, housing, and rural economic development. Under Senior Planner guidance, you will coordinate permitting for Urban Growth Areas and assist applicants with land use reviews.

You will prepare staff reports, advise officials, and present findings to advisory groups, while collaborating across departments to solve planning issues and support county growth strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Planning or related field.
• Three years of progressively responsible planning experience.
• Valid Washington State driver's license or accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate long-range planning projects.
• Advise officials on planning and policy issues.
• Prepare staff reports and recommendations.
• Coordinate complex permitting and land use reviews.
• Review and amend comprehensive plans and subarea plans.
