Job summary

Thurston County Government’s Community Planning & Economic Development department seeks an Associate Planner to lead long-range planning projects and address county-wide land use policy issues. Under guidance of a Senior Planner, you will focus on growth management, housing, joint planning with jurisdictions, and rural economic development.

You will assist with more complex permitting, especially in Urban Growth Areas, and provide journey level guidance on long-range planning and permit reviews

Qualifications

• Experience conducting journey level research and preparing staff reports.
• Ability to advise elected/appointed officials on planning issues.
• Experience preparing and presenting reports to advisory groups and private organizations.
• Experience coordinating open houses or workshops.
