Job summary

The City of Tumwater seeks an experienced Associate Planner to join our Long Range Planning team and help shape the future of our growing community. You’ll support the development and implementation of long-range plans, policies, and programs that guide how Tumwater grows and evolves.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, public administration, geography, environmental studies, or related field.
• Equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
• One to three years of professional experience in urban planning, land use, or housing.
• Valid Washington State Driver License.

Responsibilities

• Independently manages planning and permitting projects of routine to moderate complexity.
• Prepares staff reports, recommendations, and conditions of approval for review.
• Coordinates public outreach efforts and supports Planning Commission and City Council processes.
• Supports Development Review Committee and coordination with interdepartmental review.
