Job summary

EVONA in Denver, CO is seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead a team of mechanical engineers on cutting-edge communication hardware for aerospace and defense applications.

The role blends hands-on design with people leadership, overseeing mechanical development from concept through production, and coordinating with Electrical, RF, Systems and Manufacturing teams to meet cost and schedule targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 4–7+ years in mechanical engineering in aerospace/defense/comms or ruggedized electronics.
• At least 1 year of technical leadership or management experience.
• Experience designing electronics packaging, enclosures and electromechanical assemblies.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and CAD/PDM systems.
• Experience with ANSYS Mechanical, SolidWorks Simulation or similar FEA tools.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes including CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, castings and additive manufacturing.
• Experience supporting the full product development lifecycle.
• Familiarity with MIL-STD-810 and RTCA DO-160 environmental standards.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of Mechanical Engineers.
• Support hiring, resource planning, performance management and engineering development.
• Lead mechanical design for ruggedized electronics, phased array antennas and communication systems.
• Oversee mechanical development from concept through manufacturing, integration, qualification and production.
• Perform and review structural and thermal analysis.
• Drive design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with Electrical, RF, Systems, Manufacturing, Quality and Test Engineering teams.
• Ensure activities meet technical, cost and schedule requirements.
• Support environmental qualification testing (vibration, shock, thermal).
