We are seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineering Manager to join their Communication Systems team in Westminster, Colorado.
This is an excellent opportunity for a strong Mechanical Engineer or Technical Lead ready to take the next step into engineering management. You’ll lead and mentor a team of Mechanical Engineers while remaining hands-on with the design and development of advanced phased array antennas, ruggedized electronics and communication hardware.
The team is working across programs ranging from high-power ground terminals for defense applications to airborne connectivity systems.
Lead, mentor and develop a team of Mechanical Engineers.
Support hiring, onboarding, resource planning and engineering development.
Remain hands-on as a senior technical contributor on critical hardware programs.
Lead mechanical design and architecture for ruggedized electronics and communication systems.
Support products from concept and detailed design through manufacturing, integration, qualification and production.
Work on PCBA-level and system-level electronics packaging.
Support structural and thermal analysis.
Drive design reviews and improve mechanical engineering processes and standards.
Support environmental qualification including vibration, shock, temperature, humidity and other ruggedized testing.
Collaborate closely with RF, Electrical, Systems, Manufacturing, Quality, Test and Supply Chain teams.
Support customer technical discussions and program execution.
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Approximately 4–7+ years of mechanical engineering experience within aerospace, defense, communications or ruggedized electronics.
Previous leadership experience as a Technical Lead, Responsible Engineer, IPT Lead, Project Lead or Engineering Manager.
Strong experience designing electronics packaging and electromechanical hardware.
Experience with SolidWorks and ideally SolidWorks PDM.
Experience with ANSYS Mechanical, SolidWorks Simulation or similar FEA tools.
Understanding of manufacturing methods including CNC machining, sheet metal, castings, bonded assemblies and additive manufacturing.
Experience taking hardware through the complete product development lifecycle.
Exposure to environmental qualification standards such as MIL-STD-810 and/or RTCA DO-160.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work across multiple engineering disciplines.

This isn't a position where you'll leave engineering behind to become a full-time people manager.
