Abacus Group, LLC is seeking a Senior Technical Accountant in New York to support complex accounting matters and SEC reporting. You will work across business units and corporate teams to research guidance, update policies, and ensure proper financial disclosures.

The role requires 3–5 years of Big Four or equivalent experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and excellent communication skills. CPA preferred; familiarity with Workiva is a plus.

• Assess contingencies and proposed transactions to determine and document appropriate accounting treatment.
• Coordinate with external auditors and internal stakeholders on technical accounting matters and quarterly representation letters.
• Support preparation of Audit Committee materials and related financial analyses.
• Benchmark peer disclosures and accounting practices, presenting findings and recommendations.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of Big Four public accounting experience; candidates with industry experience will also be considered.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, technical accounting research, and accounting policy development.
• Experience with SEC reporting, including Forms 10-K and 10-Q, financial statement disclosures, and supporting analyses.
• Understanding of financial reporting controls, accounting adjustments, and contingency assessments.
• Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret accounting guidance and communicate clear recommendations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate across business units and with external auditors.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
• Familiarity with Workiva preferred.
• CPA preferred; candidates who have passed portions of the CPA exam will be considered.
