Job description

Receive and screen laboratory specimens via pneumatic tube and over-the-counter; reject unsuitable samples

Operate the Laboratory Information System (LIS) for order entry, sample receipt, result queries, and data entry

Sort and dispatch specimens to appropriate lab sections; manage specimen logistics for in-house and send-out tests

Perform basic rapid testing and assist in simple processing and sorting of samples

Respond to customer enquiries at reception and escalate when necessary

Alert relevant personnel of critical results and equipment malfunctions

Conduct preventive maintenance on lab instruments; monitor inventory and notify when supplies need replenishing

Comply with lab protocols, safety standards, and accreditation requirements

Participate in shift duties, training, and in-service education to stay updated on lab practices

Guide and demonstrate procedures to new or trainee staff; support routine administrative tasks (e.g. filing, invoice processing)

Carry out instructions from senior staff and assist in evaluating new test methodologies when required

What we're looking for

Diploma in Science / Medical Laboratory / Biomedical or related studies

1 - 2 years of similar experience

Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and basic laboratory equipment

Basic knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and good laboratory practice

Good communication and interpersonal skills to handle customer enquiries and work in a team

Detail-oriented, with strong organisational and time management skills
