Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. is seeking an Associate Software Engineer or Software Engineer in Pullman, WA, to contribute to hardware-oriented software and embedded systems development.

You will work under experienced engineers to analyze designs, write tests, and document results for peer reviews and records. The role emphasizes learning SEL processes, adhering to values, and applying world class manufacturing principles while providing accurate project estimates and collaborating

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.

Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Analyze designs and develop basic analog and digital circuits under the direction of an experienced engineer. Conduct hardware design reviews to demonstrate product and circuit robustness. Assist in the development of hardware specifications. Write test plans, execute tests, and document test results for use at peer design reviews and for project notebooks. Develop knowledge of SEL engineering processes. Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles. Provide work estimates to support project planning. Understand. Create. Simplify. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Analog circuit design, analysis, and simulation
  • Digital circuit design, analysis, and simulation
  • Power supply design, analysis, and simulation
  • Microprocessor and FPGA system design
  • Ethernet and fiber optic communications interface design
  • Electromagnetic compatibility and standards compliance experience
  • Hands on experience with prototyping
  • PCB layout experience
  • Basic understanding of project management processes and procedures
  • Digital design with emphasis on Programmable Logic including:
    • VHDL/Verilog
    • Xilinx/Altera/Micro Semi Tools
    • Simulation, Timing Analysis, and Synthesis

Associate Software Engineer $84,240 – $124,461 per year. Software Engineer $97,740 - $144,460 per year. We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience and the pay range may differ if filled at a different level. Our pay ranges are determined by job and responsibility. We base our starting pay offer and title on job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
