United Wholesale Mortgage, LLC is seeking an Associate General Counsel to support regulatory and legal matters and oversee title-related projects, servicing, and loan-level litigation at our Pontiac, MI headquarters. This on-site role focuses on mortgage servicing litigation, regulatory interpretation, vendor reviews, and pre-litigation work to minimize risk and protect the company’s rights.

Strong leadership, planning and communication skills, plus a Michigan bar license and litigation

Qualifications

• Must have active Michigan bar license and litigation experience.
• Experience overseeing servicing and loan-level litigation.
• Experience in corporate legal work within financial services.
• Strong leadership, planning and project management abilities.

Job description

Our Associate General Counsel will support our business with all regulatory and legal matters. They will be responsible for overseeing title-related legal projects as well as servicing and other loan-level litigation.

This position requires 100% on-site attendance at our headquarters in Pontiac, MI.

What You Will Be Doing

• Focus on Mortgage Servicing Litigation
• Providing business support on a variety of regulatory and legal matters
• Interpreting legislation and regulations affecting mortgage brokers and lenders
• Reviewing business relationships with vendors
• Conducting legal research on unique legal issues impacting the organization
• Keeping abreast of legislative changes that may affect the Company
• Performing pre-litigation work to minimize risks and maximize legal rights
• Providing legal training to Company team members

Must Have Qualifications

• Michigan bar licensed attorney
• Litigation experience
• Experience in overseeing and litigating servicing and other loan-level cases
• Experience performing corporate legal work
• Experience in the mortgage banking, banking, loan servicing, or financial industry
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Have effective planning, organizational and project management skills
• Be able to manage multiple projects and tasks effectively
• Have a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
• Have excellent written and communication skills
• Have the ability to work independently
• Have critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills.
• Be self-motivated and able to work well in a team based environment
