Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking an Associate Estimator to prepare estimates for diverse projects, supporting cost accuracy with the project team. The role includes assisting other estimators and managers in all estimating tasks, and reading contract documents to perform quantity take-offs and bid analyses.

This position requires a civil engineering or construction management background, proficiency with estimating software, and strong communication under tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management or equivalent.
• Preferred knowledge of Destini Estimator and design software.
• Familiarity with On Screen Take-off and MS Office.
• Knowledge of Revit and Primavera is a plus.
• Effective written and verbal communications; able to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing estimates for potential projects using hard-bid, design-build, and conceptual estimating.
• Read and understand contract documents (plans, specs, addenda).
• Perform quantity take-offs and price information organization.
• Solicit bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Communicate pricing with subs and suppliers for clarification.
• Prepare estimate formats including general conditions and bid analysis.
• Assist with bid proposal preparation for submittal.
• Prepare outline schedules for proposed projects.
• Support staff on special estimating projects.
