Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking an Associate Estimator to prepare estimates for diverse projects, share cost accuracy with the project team, and assist other estimators and managers in estimating tasks.

You will read contracts, perform quantity take-offs, solicit bids, price subcontractor scopes, and develop bid formats and outlines. A civil engineering or construction management background is preferred, with knowledge of estimating software such as Destini, BlueBeam, and On Screen Take-off.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management or equivalent education/experience.
• Preferred knowledge of estimating software and MS Office suite.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Champions 'The Layton Way' and delivers predictable outcomes for internal and external teams.
• Ensures construction with integrity by focusing on safety and quality.
• Assists in preparing estimates using hard-bid, design-build, and conceptual estimating.
• Reads and understands contract documents (plans, specs, addenda).
• Performs quantity take-offs and prices information.
• Solicits bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Communicates pricing information with subs and suppliers.
• Prepares estimate formats for general conditions, bidding, and bid analysis.
• Assists with bid proposals and outline schedules.
• Supports staff on special estimating projects.
