Job summary

Dominion Energy is seeking an entry to development level System Protection Engineer to provide engineering support for protective relay settings and system protection schemes. Primary focus includes designing and modeling protective relay settings for up to 69kV equipment and interconnecting distributed energy resources, with exposure to IEC 61850 and related technologies.

The role offers a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in office, two days teleworking) and requires an engineering

Qualifications

Associate Engineer: 0–2 years of relevant engineering experience; 6 months+ counts as 1 year toward qualifications
Electrical or computer engineering background, preferably in electric power systems
Strong time management with ability to plan and organize work
Strong oral and written communication skills
Able to work independently and in a team
Able to apply engineering theories to complex problems
Experience with short circuit modeling software (Aspen ONELINER or PSS/CAPE)
IEC 61850 knowledge is a plus
SAP work management experience is a plus
Programming skills for automation of system studies (Python, C#, .NET) are a plus
Ability to interpret codes, regulations, and practices

Responsibilities

Develop and/or review protective relay settings for Electric Transmission protection schemes inside the substation
Provide advanced technical support to conceptual engineering teams and project management
Participate in company and industry teams to enhance system protection performance
Engage in trade and industry benchmarking activities
