Job summary

Olsson is seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer to join our Federal Engineering & Design team. You will design electrical systems for federal facilities, learn codes and standards, and work with licensed engineers on power, lighting, and life safety systems. Travel to project sites may be required.

You will gain hands-on experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and other tools while contributing to national infrastructure projects and career growth within a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a concentration in power.
• Minimum of one year of engineering experience, internship experience, or equivalent academic project experience.
• Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
• Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles related to building and facility systems.
• Working knowledge of, or ability to become proficient in, design and modeling software such as Revit, AutoCAD, SKM, AGi32, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and electrical building systems is preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of electrical systems for federal facilities, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, communications, and life safety systems.
• Perform engineering calculations, system layouts, and equipment selections under the guidance of licensed engineers.
• Develop and apply knowledge of electrical engineering principles, codes, standards, and industry best practices.
• Utilize engineering and design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, or other electrical modeling and analysis tools.
• Assist with project schedules, design coordination efforts, and interdisciplinary collaboration with mechanical, civil, structural, and architectural teams.
• Research applicable federal design criteria and recommend solutions to technical challenges.
• Gain experience creating and maintaining project information within the firm's project management systems.
• May travel to project sites and federal installations to support design development, construction, and project coordination activities.
