Job summary

Olsson is seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer to join our Federal Engineering and Design Team. You will help design electrical systems for federal facilities, applying DoD, VA, and UFC standards while growing your expertise in power distribution, lighting, and life safety.

You will perform engineering calculations, create layouts in Revit or AutoCAD, support project schedules, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a concentration in Power.
• 1 year of engineering experience, internship, or equivalent academic project experience.
• Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
• Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and electrical building systems is preferred.
• Willingness to travel and perform occasional field work as required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of electrical systems for federal facilities, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, communications, and life safety systems.
• Perform engineering calculations, system layouts, and equipment selections under the guidance of licensed engineers.
• Develop and apply knowledge of electrical engineering principles, codes, standards, and industry best practices.
• Utilize engineering and design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, or other electrical modeling and analysis tools.
• Assist with project schedules, design coordination efforts, and interdisciplinary collaboration with mechanical, civil, structural, and architectural teams.
• Research applicable federal design criteria and recommend solutions to technical challenges.
