Job summary

WSP is seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer in Minneapolis, MN to contribute to the design and delivery of electrical systems for commercial, healthcare, higher education, and other building projects. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, support construction documents, and participate in all project phases from planning through construction administration.

The role requires 1–3 years of related experience and a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or related field.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• 1–3 years of post-education experience in electrical engineering.
• Knowledge of electrical engineering principles and building systems design.
• Familiarity with building electrical systems, power distribution, lighting, emergency power, and fire alarm systems.
• Working knowledge of building codes, electrical codes, and industry standards.
• Experience using Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the design and development of building electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, and fire alarm systems.
• Perform electrical engineering calculations (load, voltage drop, sizing, short-circuit, coordination).
• Support construction drawings, specifications, reports, and technical studies.
• Develop designs and construction documents using Revit, AutoCAD, and related software.
• Assist with site investigations, field observations, and construction administration activities.
• Review shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, clients, and contractors.
