Job summary

WSP is seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer for our Minneapolis, MN office. You will contribute to the design and delivery of electrical systems for a diverse portfolio of building projects, working within our Property & Buildings team.

You will gain mentorship from industry professionals, support all project phases from planning to construction administration, and collaborate with architects, engineers, and clients to meet project objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or closely related discipline.
• 1–3 years of post‑education electrical engineering experience.
• Knowledge of electrical engineering principles, building systems design, and codes.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design and development of building electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, emergency power, fire alarm, and low‑voltage systems.
• Perform electrical engineering calculations: load, voltage drop, equipment sizing, feeder/conductor sizing, short‑circuit and coordination studies.
• Support creation of construction drawings, specs, reports, and other project documentation.
• Develop engineering designs and construction documents using Revit, AutoCAD, and related software.
• Assist with site investigations, facility assessments, field observations, and construction administration.
• Review shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs; collaborate with architects, mechanical/structural/plumbing engineers, clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
• Support project managers with execution, scheduling, budgeting, quality management, and coordination.
• Collect, compile, and analyze project data and technical information.
