Job summary

Widseth Smith Nolting and Associates Inc is seeking anElectrical Engineer to design electrical systems for diverse building projects from concept through construction. You will develop construction documents, coordinate with architects and clients, and guide junior staff to ensure on-time, within-budget delivery.

The role requires PE licensure in MN (ND licensure within 6 months), 7+ years of experience, and proficiency with Revit/AutoCAD/SKM/ETAP. Travel and strong client service are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• Minnesota Professional Engineer (PE) license and ability to obtain licensure in North Dakota within six months.
• 7+ years of experience designing electrical building systems.
• Experience with commercial, institutional, industrial, or municipal buildings.
• Proficiency with design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, SKM, ETAP, or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of NEC, NFPA, IBC, IEEE and other codes and standards.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a collaborative environment.
• Excellent communication and client service skills.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for commercial, educational, healthcare, industrial, and public-sector building projects.
• Develop construction documents, including plans, specifications, calculations, and reports.
• Perform power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage system design.
• Coordinate designs with architects, contractors, owners, and other engineering disciplines.
• Conduct site visits, field investigations, and construction observations.
• Collaborate with project managers to deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
• Apply applicable codes and standards to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant designs.
• Assist with project proposals, client meetings, and technical presentations.
• Provide guidance and support to junior engineering staff and EITs.
