Job summary

Network Rail Consulting is seeking an Associate Director, Rail Operations Planning to join our New York team. You will lead a multi-disciplinary rail consultancy, delivering end-to-end planning, logistics and operations improvements for public agencies and private clients across North America.

This role emphasizes strategic leadership, safety culture, and building strong client relationships, with a focus on asset management, major projects, and railway operations transformation.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level with a relevant degree/equivalent experience.
• Ability to implement and maintain a safety culture using robust safety leadership skills.
• Strong strategic focus with the ability to formulate and drive the delivery of strategic objectives.
• Proven track record of outstanding team leadership.
• Detailed knowledge of the rail infrastructure planning constraints and processes.
• Highly skilled senior relationship manager, experienced in managing end-to-end client, customer, and supplier relationships.
• Advanced influencing and negotiations skills with the ability to influence develop mutually beneficial relationships.
• Advance knowledge of depot and facility management
• Lead on continuous improvement skills, i.e., LEAN/Six Sigma.
• Detailed knowledge of rail plant, wagons, seasonal fleet and on-track machine management and operation.
• Member of a relevant professional institution.
• Knowledge of railway operations, including safety rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of rail plan and on-track machine management, maintenance, and operation.

Responsibilities

• Provide project management and leadership in rail infrastructure work delivery.
• Identify operational and infrastructure delivery improvements for clients.
• Develop detailed work planning and logistics offerings in North America.
• Lead performance improvement initiatives in resource delivery and outage management.
• Collaborate with clients to implement strategies that maximize benefits.
• Support bids and proposals with technical writing.
• Develop infrastructure works planning and logistics offerings.
• Mentor and onboard talent for project delivery.
