Job summary

Proskauer Rose LLP in New York seeks an Associate Director of Business Development for Private Investment Funds to lead BD strategy, client development and cross-practice collaboration across the US and global funds market.

You will work with PIF leadership, build campaigns, manage a BD team, and help position the firm as a market-leading advisor on fund formation and secondaries; a senior, strategic role requiring excellent stakeholder management.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years in a professional services environment with BD/marketing/communications.
• Significant experience supporting Private Investment Funds or related sponsor-driven practices.
• Strong understanding of fund formation and secondaries in a global law firm.
• Excellent leadership, including hiring, motivating, and evaluating teams.
• Strategic ability to identify client and market opportunities aligned with objectives.
• Drive for results with robust project management and multi-project prioritization.
• Flexibility to adjust work schedule, data-driven insights, and confidentiality.
• Collaborative, executive presence, and excellent written communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop annual strategic plan for PIF and translate into high-value opportunities.
• Support BD with growth plans for fund formation and secondaries, ROI-focused.
• Advise partners on client targeting, cross-selling, and market positioning.
• Coordinate cross-practice initiatives with Private Equity M&A, Global Finance and others.
• Lead lateral onboarding and client integration.
• Manage US-based BD team supporting PIF and oversee hiring and development.
• Oversee marketing and content programs to raise Proskauer’s profile.
• Identify events, sponsorships, and thought leadership opportunities.
• Partner with other offices to ensure messaging consistency.
• Set budgets and track ROI for PIF initiatives.
• Determine use of AI tools to improve efficiency.
