Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. in the US Ophthalmology portfolio seeks an Associate Director to lead the design and management of access and affordability programs across the US market.

This role directs hub services, reimbursement support, and payment solutions to reduce barriers to therapy initiation and continuity. The successful candidate will partner with cross-functional teams including Patient Engagement, Field Reimbursement, Compliance, and Legal to deliver scalable patient support and ensure launch

Qualifications

• 5+ years designing, scaling, or optimizing patient affordability and/or access programs with measurable outcomes.
• Knowledge of buy-and-bill access dynamics, medical benefit reimbursement pathways, and distribution ecosystem.
• Strong cross‑functional leadership and ability to influence without authority.
• Experience creating and maintaining program documentation, playbooks, and implementation plans.
• Ability to plan, prioritize, execute, and iterate with a growth mindset.
• Understanding US commercial and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the access and affordability strategy for the US Ophthalmology portfolio.
• Identify barriers to treatment access and optimize patient support initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure launch readiness and ongoing program optimization.
• Define KPIs, dashboards, and data requirements to enable performance reporting and decision making.
