Job summary

AbbVie Inc. is seeking an Associate Director of Business Insights to partner with Oncology/SMAO CSL leadership and extend support to Neuroscience/SSU.

You will translate complex questions into data-driven analyses, own analytical products, and influence executive decisions across portfolio strategy, design, and risk management. The role requires strong communication, data analytics experience, and a track record of managing multiple workstreams across therapeutic areas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Finance, Analytics, Business, or related quantitative field preferred.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in business analytics, strategy, or a related client-facing analytical role, 5+ years for advanced degree holders.
• Demonstrated experience managing senior stakeholder relationships (Director/Sr. Director level or above).
• Strong analytical and strategic decision-support skills; translate ambiguity into structured analyses.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; distill complex analyses for non-technical audiences.
• Experience with data analytics/visualization tools (SQL, Power BI, Excel).
• Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams across therapeutic areas.
• Familiarity with clinical trial operations, drug development, or R&D processes.
• Experience supporting multiple therapeutic areas or portfolios concurrently.
• Preferred: prior people-management or mentoring experience; working knowledge of AbbVie systems.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as primary SABI point of contact and trusted advisor to Oncology/SMAO CSL leadership.
• End-to-End Insight Delivery: Lead portfolio-level insights from hypothesis generation to recommendations.
• Analytical Product Ownership: Own and evolve key analytical products for Oncology/SMAO.
• Cross-TA Support — Neuroscience/SSU: Provide analytical support to Neuroscience/SSU stakeholders where transferable.
• Business Need Translation: Translate business needs into scoped analytical workstreams.
• Executive Communication: Influence senior leaders with clear, actionable insights.
• Risk & Gap Identification: Highlight structural gaps and unaddressed risks.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with CAP functions to reuse analytical approaches.
• CDO-Wide Initiatives: Support priority enterprise initiatives with SABI capabilities.
• Team Capability Development: Coach junior analysts and ensure analytical rigor.
• Portfolio Stewardship: Balance stakeholder requests with high-impact work.
