Job Summary
The financial aid/loan officer, responsible to the director of financial aid, works in conjunction with the dean of administrative and financial services to administer the loan, scholarship, and NC State programs for the student population of Carolinas College of Health Sciences (CCHS). This position will be responsible for certifying loans, requesting funds, reconciling accounts and promissory notes, sending Atrium Health loans to billing and collections, and administering the Direct Stafford Loan Default Management program.

Loan Program Administration
- Administers the Direct Federal Stafford Loan program, provides information to students, certifies funds, and manages default prevention efforts.
- Reconciles federal funds accounts monthly and utilizes electronic programs for processing.
- Manages Atrium Health’s Educational Loan Forgiveness Program, including tracking, repayment coordination, and documentation.
- Administers NC State Education Assistance programs, determining eligibility, certifying students, and reconciling funds.
Professional Development
- Maintains knowledge and skills through ongoing education, training, and professional activities; evaluates own performance annually; complies with health and safety requirements.
Education and Training
- Baccalaureate degree required.
- Strong communication skills; three years’ experience with Title IV federal student aid programs; proficiency with Microsoft Office and online federal programs preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Office work involving walking, standing, bending, sitting, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
Population Served
- Knowledge of growth and development principles; ability to respond to age-specific issues for various age groups.

- Limits access to PHI and student information; shares information only on a need-to-know basis; access is controlled via user ID and password.
