Overview

JOB SUMMARY

The financial aid/loan officer, reporting to the director of financial aid and collaborating with the dean of administrative and financial services, manages the loan, scholarship, and NC State programs for students at Carolinas College of Health Sciences (CCHS). Responsibilities include certifying loans, requesting funds, reconciling accounts and promissory notes, handling Atrium Health loans for billing and collections, and overseeing the Direct Stafford Loan Default Management program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Manage the Direct Federal Stafford Loan program, including providing information, certifying funds, and ensuring compliance with default management protocols.

  • Distribute loan information to students
  • Answer questions on eligibility, processing, and disbursement
  • Certify loan funds and apply activity to tuition accounts
  • Implement default management strategies to minimize default rates
  • Reconcile federal funds monthly
  • Use electronic federal programs for processing

Administer Atrium Health’s Loan Forgiveness and assist with Cabarrus College loans, including reconciliation, repayment coordination, and documentation.

  • Reconcile tracking spreadsheets monthly
  • Coordinate repayment with Atrium Health and billing services
  • Respond to questions about loan amounts and repayment
  • Ensure completion of loan paperwork each semester

Manage NC State Education Assistance programs, determining eligibility, certifying students, awarding funds, and reconciling accounts.

Maintain professional competence through ongoing education, training, and certifications, including compliance with health and safety requirements.

  • Complete required training modules and compliance measures

Baccalaureate degree required.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • At least three years’ experience with Title IV federal student aid processing
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook; experience with online Title IV programs preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Office work with periods of walking, standing, bending, sitting, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Work in a safe manner

POPULATION SERVED

  • Knowledge of growth and development principles
  • Ability to address age-specific issues across various age groups, including neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric
