Job summary

UMass Amherst in Amherst, MA is seeking an Associate Director for New Student Orientation, Transitions, & Family Programs to lead orientation and transition initiatives for undergraduates and their families.   • Master's degree and at least 4 years of related work experience in orientation or student services.
  • Proven ability to develop and sustain positive, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience developing and delivering recruitment, orientation, and family programs.
  • Experience using web-based software to initiate, track, and record work.
  • Strong proficiency with Word processing, Excel, and web-based tools.
  • Experience engaging diverse populations and building inclusive teams.
  • Experience creating trainings, workshops, and presentations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the New Student Orientation Office.
  • Lead development and assessment of orientation and transition programs for multiple populations.
  • Supervise staff including assistant directors and graduate interns; recruit and train staff.
  • Manage registration functions and coordinate online programs.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications plan for programs.
  • Maintain records of recruitment, training, schedules and assessments.
  • Foster partnerships with Student Affairs, Enrollment Management and academic units.
  • Represent the department on university committees and initiatives.
  • Assist with budget management and vendor relations.
  • Support events including after-hours programs as needed.
