Job summary

University of Massachusetts Amherst’s Off Campus Student Life (OCSL) invites applications for the Assistant Director role in Amherst. You will oversee educational initiatives, supervise 15–20 undergraduates, and manage the Off Campus Student Center while coordinating housing programs and community outreach.

Responsibilities include referrals, communications, partnerships with campus and local agencies, and presenting trainings.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, policy/administration, or business, with two years’ related experience.
• Proven ability to build positive relationships with internal and external constituencies.
• Proficient with MS Office and online course development tools.
• Experience with web-based platforms to initiate and track work.
• Experience with diverse populations and inclusive teams.
• Experience delivering trainings and presentations.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and assess educational initiatives for off-campus housing and community living.
• Recruit, train, and supervise 15–20 student staff.
• Support Off Campus Student Center operations and track usage.
• Coordinate community building and intervention programs (Good Neighbor Registration, Housing/Community fairs).
• Advise off-campus students, make referrals, and liaise with agencies.
• Create and maintain OCSL communications and marketing materials.
• Partner with campus and community organizations.
• Maintain knowledge of off-campus housing trends and best practices.
• Represent OCSL on university committees; conduct trainings and transport materials.
