Job summary

AbbVie Westport is seeking an Associate Director of Maintenance to provide strategic and operational leadership for the maintenance and engineering function. You will ensure reliability, availability, and regulatory compliance of manufacturing and utility equipment while leading a high-performing engineering team.

The role drives maintenance excellence, supports operational performance, champions continuous improvement, and ensures compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
• 6+ years in engineering, manufacturing, or maintenance.
• Leadership experience managing engineering/maintenance teams.
• Strong knowledge of maintenance systems and reliability principles.
• Experience in regulated manufacturing environments (biopharma/pharma/medical devices).
• Proven ability to manage budgets, projects and cross-functional initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the site maintenance function to maximise equipment reliability and uptime.
• Set department goals, priorities, and performance metrics aligned with site objectives.
• Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance across manufacturing and utility systems.
• Drive maintenance excellence and reliability programmes to improve equipment performance.
• Lead planning and execution of engineering projects, including upgrades and improvements.
• Manage engineering budgets and capital expenditure projects.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, quality, environmental, health, and safety requirements.
• Support audits and inspections by internal, corporate, and external bodies.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, Engineering, and other functions to optimise performance.
• Oversee calibration activities and asset management programmes.
• Manage contractor relationships and external service providers.
• Lead investigations and CAPA implementations for continuous improvement.
• Provide technical leadership on engineering and maintenance matters.
