Job Summary

This role manages a range of programs, workshops, and advising related to graduate student and postdoc scholarly development.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the CCTL’s design, development, and graduate programs on evidence-based teaching and professional development in teaching.
  • Manages logistics and budget for the College Teaching Certificate, including the CCTL Graduate Fellows, and the Teaching Consultants programs as well as other pedagogical development programs for graduate students.
  • Recruits, trains, and supervises the CCTL Graduate Fellows and Teaching Consultants.
  • Collaborates with CCTL colleagues and other units on the planning, implementation, and evaluation of CCTL events, programs, and services such as the University-wide orientation for graduate students and other programs.
  • Leads the CCTL’s design, development, and evaluation of resources and training to support undergraduate learning and Master’s students.
  • Builds relationships and consults with other units offering learning services for undergraduate students and provides opportunities for pedagogical training.
  • Teaches one section of Course Design and College Teaching, a pedagogy course for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars.
  • Assists the Executive Director and Deputy Director in short- and long-range strategic planning for the CCTL, leading the vision and strategic planning on graduate and undergraduate programming.
  • Assists with the implementation of an assessment plan for graduate and undergraduate programs to evaluate effectiveness of reaching program goals, including surveys and interviews of participants, reviews of materials produced by participants, analysis of teaching observation results, and designs and analysis of research on student learning.
  • Increases the CCTL’s profile, reputation, and visibility.
  • Advises constituents, inclusive of faculty, lecturers, graduate students, or postdocs on various aspects of scholarly development.
  • Responsible for scholarly development programs/services offered by office, including content development and administration.
  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.


Work Experience:

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

  • PhD in related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a related position, ideally in a center for teaching and learning or other pedagogically oriented unit.
  • Educational development experience.
  • Background with professional development programs for graduate students.
  • Leading workshops and individual consultations.
  • Comfortable in an academic and research-intensive environment.

Technical Skills or Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of programs and services to support undergraduate learning.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, prioritize and manage concurrent tasks with interruptions.
  • Work with graduate and undergraduate students from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds.
