Remote Position

Are you a problem solver who loves creating content and programming, identifying leading subject-matter experts, and developing educational programs? The new role of Director of Programming & Education is responsible for providing vision and leadership for association programming and events, managing a portfolio of conferences and programs, and leading educational initiatives. The Director will be a key part of the IPA team, supporting strategic initiatives and serving as a thought leader. They will also work to expand partnerships and stakeholder relationships.

The association is based in Washington, D.C., but this is a fully remote/home-based position. Candidates outside the Washington, D.C. area will be considered. The role requires up to 15% travel.

We are a small, dynamic, and dedicated team, skilled at multitasking and collaboration across responsibilities.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Lead conference content & programming (70%)
  2. Design and implement strategic plans for conferences and events to increase industry knowledge and engagement.
  3. Develop engaging agendas, select panel topics, and identify and engage expert panelists for IPA conferences and events.
  4. Lead education and data initiatives (30%)
  5. Manage IPA’s educational programs, webinars, and data projects, ensuring high-quality content and effective dissemination.
  6. Create educational materials and collaborate with industry experts, members, and stakeholders to enhance offerings.

Continuously research and incorporate the latest industry trends, topics, best practices, technology, and innovations into programming and educational efforts.

Work closely with the Director of Marketing to execute promotional campaigns and with the Conference & Event Manager to ensure smooth planning and execution of conferences and events.

Collaborate with the CEO, staff, vendors, and consultants to ensure the success of conferences, events, and educational programs.

Provide onsite support at conferences and events.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to the IPA President & CEO and collaborates with staff, vendors, and consultants as needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in developing and executing conference, event, and educational content within the financial services sector.
  • Experience in the alternative investments industry is a strong plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Relationship-building experience.
  • Technologically savvy, comfortable with new and evolving technologies.
  • Superior writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with MemberSuite is a plus.
  • Experience with trade associations or nonprofits is preferred.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or advanced degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of five years relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in the financial services industry is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex issues with strong business acumen.
  • High energy, self-motivated, positive attitude.
