Job summary

Merck is seeking an Associate Director, Engineering for Biologics External Manufacturing Technology. Based in the US with flexible location, you will lead technical transfers to external partners and manage cross-functional teams across biologics modalities.

You will drive process transfers, site readiness, and validation strategies while coordinating with external partners to ensure compliant, on-time manufacturing and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or applicable Science is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years post-bachelor’s degree experience in vaccine/biologics manufacturing or related engineering support.
• Expertise in leading technical transfers and cross-functional collaboration across sites and external partners.
• Strong problem-solving, leadership, and change-management capabilities are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide single-point technical contact to External Partners and Commercialization.
• Oversee complex tech transfer delivery on-time and within budget with an external partner network.
• Lead cross-functional teams to assure process transfer readiness and site readiness.
• Develop validation strategies and provide manufacturing process support to optimize capacity.
• Assess partner viability, perform technical due diligence, and drive continuous improvement.
• Guide and coach teams on change leadership and risk mitigation across partners.
