Job summary

Brooklyn Law School in Downtown Brooklyn, NY, seeks an Associate or Assistant Director of Academic Success to join its Academic and Student Success program. Reporting to the Associate Dean, this role helps foster high student achievement and develops strategies to keep students informed and engaged.

Responsibilities include serving as the 1L specialist for part-time students, designing the 1L curriculum, supervising instructors, and running a 0L summer non-credit course.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree from an ABA‑accredited law school and bar admission.
• 5+ years as an academic success professional with measurable student outcomes.
• Experience teaching in an academic‑success or legal writing program; 1L teaching desirable.
• Able to teach up to 4 courses per academic year.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the 1L specialist for part-time students.
• Teach academic success courses (up to 4/year) and provide targeted support.
• Conduct workshops on learning strategies, test-taking, time management, and organization.
• Advise students and develop academic plans; monitor progress.
• Prepare reports on student outcomes and program accomplishments.
• Use data to identify at-risk students and assess program effectiveness.
• Collaborate with faculty and other offices to support student learning.
