Job summary

South College is seeking an Associate Dean of Undergraduate Health Professions to lead multiple health programs from a fully remote base with campus travel as needed. Responsibilities

• Oversee the strategic direction, development and delivery of undergraduate health professions programs across multiple programs.
• Monitor and assess program outcomes using assessment data to drive continuous quality improvements.
• Conduct curriculum reviews to ensure academic integrity and alignment with the institution’s mission.
• Ensure programs meet or exceed accreditation standards and improve through ongoing assessment.
• Drive innovation in curriculum design and delivery, incorporating emerging trends in healthcare and education.
• Lead accreditation processes for health professions programs and ensure compliance with accrediting bodies.
• Collaborate with academic leaders to set long-term goals for the health professions group and institutional priorities.
• Collaborate with senior department chairs and administrators to develop strategic goals for the division.
• Review program manuals and ensure timely updates.
• Provide leadership in developing new programs addressing evolving healthcare needs and trends.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration across faculties.
• Build relationships with healthcare organizations and professional associations to align programs with workforce needs.
• Travel to campus locations as needed.

The Associate Dean of Undergraduate Health Professions provides dotted line supervision for several programs, including Dental Education, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Medical Assisting, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Physical Therapist Assistant, Radiography, Respiratory Therapy, Surgical Technology

Working with the Dean of Undergraduate Health Professions, Senior Department Chairs, and Program Directors, the Associate Dean will:

1. Oversee the strategic direction, development, and delivery of undergraduate health professions programs across multiple programs.
2. Monitor and assess program outcomes through regular reviews with Senior Department Chairs, using assessment data to implement necessary changes and ensure the continuous quality and improvement of educational programs.
3. Conduct thorough curriculum reviews in collaboration with Senior Department Chairs to ensure the programs' academic integrity and alignment with the institution’s mission.
4. Ensure all programs meet or exceed accreditation standards and continuously improve through ongoing assessment and feedback loops.
5. Drive innovation in curriculum design and delivery, incorporating emerging trends in healthcare and education.
6. Lead accreditation processes for health professions programs, ensuring compliance with regional and program-specific accrediting bodies.
7. Collaborate with other academic leaders to develop long-term goals and strategies for the health professions group, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities.
8. Collaborate with senior department chairs and other academic leaders and institutional administration to develop strategic goals for the undergraduate health professions division.
9. Review Program manuals and ensure regular updates.
10. Ensure timely submission of assessment reports to accrediting bodies, and the departmental annual assessment report to the Vice-Chancellor of Institutional Advancement and Effectiveness.
11. Provide leadership in the development of new programs and initiatives that address emerging healthcare needs and trends.
12. Promote innovation in pedagogy, including the use of technology, simulation, and interprofessional education.
13. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaborative learning among senior department chairs and program directors. faculty and staff.
14. Build relationships with healthcare organizations, employers, and professional associations to ensure that educational programs are aligned with industry standards and workforce needs.
15. Travel to campus locations as needed.
16. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education:

1. A terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D., or equivalent) in a relevant field such as health professions education, medical education, public health, or discipline specific to health professions.
2. Advanced training or certifications in higher education leadership or curriculum development is preferred.

Experience:

1. Extensive experience in academic leadership roles within health professions education, including teaching, curriculum development, and program administration.
2. Demonstrated experience in the administration and coordination of programs.
3. Proven leadership skills, including experience in faculty management, student affairs, and academic advising.
4. Prior experience in undergraduate education, ideally with a background in specific health disciplines (allied health areas).
5. Strong background in accreditation processes (e.g., overseeing program evaluations and ensuring compliance with accrediting bodies).
6. Familiarity with healthcare and educational policy, as well as emerging technologies in education and healthcare delivery.
7. Expertise in the trends, challenges, and best practices in health professions education.
8. Demonstrated experience in the administration and coordination of programs, especially in the context of interdisciplinary and collaborative health education.
9. Proven leadership skills, including experience in faculty management, student affairs, and academic advising.
