Job summary

Merrimack College invites applications for a full-time 12-month Open Rank, Non-Tenure Track or Tenure Track Professor to serve as Associate Dean in the Graduate School of Counseling and Social Work. The role oversees day-to-day operations, program development, and student outcomes while partnering with the Academic Dean.

The position requires a doctorate in counseling-related fields, 5+ years of leadership, and licensure eligibility.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Counseling Psychology, Social Work, or closely related field.
• At least 5 years of progressive academic leadership experience.
• Licensure as a masters’ level clinician or eligibility; evidence of teaching effectiveness.
• Familiarity with accreditation and licensure landscapes (CACREP, MPCAC, APA, CSWE).
• Proficiency with academic systems and data-informed decision making.

Responsibilities

• Collaborative Leadership: coordinate across programs, admissions, advising, and registrar; represent the Dean’s Office.
• Teaching: provide at least 4-credit hours per semester and participate in course development.
• Research and Scholarship: maintain active program of scholarship and seek funding; mentor others.
• Academic Operations and Student Outcomes: oversee scheduling, catalog updates, and student progression.
• Program Innovation and Quality: design high-impact student programming aligned with standards.
• Talent and Team Development: cultivate a collaborative culture across staff and faculty.
• Partnerships and Communication: liaison with admissions, marketing, and external partners.
• Strategic Growth: assist multi-year planning and enrollment growth; evening/weekend work as needed.
