Merrimack College, a private Catholic Augustinian institution near Boston, seeks an Associate Dean for the Graduate School of Counseling and Social Work. Open Rank Professor, tenure or non-tenure track, will lead operations, program development, and strategic growth across Clinical Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling, and Social Work.

The role requires a doctorate, 5+ years of leadership, and licensure eligibility; salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Counseling Psychology, Social Work, or closely related field.
• At least 5 years of progressive academic leadership experience in graduate education.
• Licensure as a masters’ level clinician (e.g., LICSW, LMHC), psychologist, or eligibility; evidence of teaching.
• Demonstrated success leading collaborative initiatives across units; commitment to student-centered practices.
• Familiarity with accreditation and licensure landscapes (CACREP, MPCAC, APA, CSWE; DESE for School Counseling).

Responsabilités

• Collaborate across program directors, online coordinators, admissions, advising/coaching teams, and the Registrar to deliver a seamless student journey; represent the Dean’s Office at campus and community events.
• Teach at least 4 credits per semester; engage in course development/revision to maintain current knowledge quality.
• Maintain an active program of scholarship; publish peer-reviewed work and mentor faculty/students in research productivity.
• Oversee course scheduling and catalog updates for consistency, accuracy and enrollment efficiency; monitor student progression and advising.
• Partner with faculty to design high-impact student programming and ensure alignment with professional standards.
• Cultivate a collaborative, service-oriented culture across staff and faculty.
• Serve as liaison to Admissions, Marketing, and external partners to support recruitment and licensure pathways.
• Assist Academic Dean with multi-year planning, new program development, and data-informed decisions; evening/weekend engagement as needed.
