The Division of Student Affairs fosters student growth and development. The Division of Student Affairs aids, directs and informs students about services and programs that will expand students’ educational experiences and prepare them for diverse lives in local and global communities. The Division of Student Affairs is responsible for many of the outside the classroom/off campus aspects of student life at ECSU, including student engagement and leadership; career services; student disability services, residential life; student activities; community standards; special programs and services; student health & counseling services and career services.
The Associate Dean of Students is a resource, advocate, and liaison for a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, parents/families, and community partners that support and contribute to student resiliency and success at Elizabeth City State University. This position oversees the management and operations of the university’s Office of Community Standards and supports campus-wide programming, and events related to critical student support. The Associate Dean of Student Development is responsible for administering the Student Conduct process, and collaborating on complex case management. This position is highly collaborative and plays an active role in non-clinical behavior modification, ethics, and decision making-model implementation, as well as implementing both long and short-term response plans. This position stands in on behalf of the Dean of Student, as needed, for emergency fund management, guidance for CARE team activities, and the Student Affairs on-call student crisis/emergency team and is designated as a Campus Security Authority and Responsible Employee. This position reports directly to the Assistant Vice Chancellor/ Dean of Students, works collaboratively with the Assistant Dean of Communal Engagement and designated leadership overseeing residential education program, and student success within the residence halls.
A master’s degree in related field required. Experience in assisting students in resolving conflicts, or previous experience work in restorative education/restorative justice, or work within the judicial system, student conduct, or overseeing a student appeals/complaint process. Preference will be given to professionals with higher education leadership experience. Knowledge and familiarity in Title IX, FERPA, Clery and other key compliance issues, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
