Ladders seeks an Associate Counsel for Hackensack/West Orange, NJ to join a leader in Finance & Insurance. The attorney will support insurance defense matters and provide liability, damages, and case value assessments for claims operations.

The role spans research, motion practice, discovery, depositions, and courtroom advocacy across New Jersey, with a hybrid remote work option. Candidates must have 2-6+ years of litigation experience, a JD, NJ Bar license, and willingness to travel for

Qualifications

• 2-6+ years of litigation experience in insurance defense and/or personal injury.
• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the New Jersey Bar in good standing.
• Licensed to practice law in New Jersey.
• Ability to travel for trials, hearings, and depositions.
• Strong written communication and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Research laws and prepare legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.
• Render opinions on liability, damages, and value for the Claims Department.
• Prepare and handle pleadings, motions, and discovery.
• Defend assigned matters by trial or dispositive hearing.
• Conduct depositions and examinations under oath.

Job description

For our client, we are seeking a Associate Counsel - Hackensack/West Orange, NJ to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space.

This attorney role will support insurance defense matters and provide legal guidance on liability, damages, and case value assessments for claims operations. The position involves handling active litigation across New Jersey and collaborating closely with internal stakeholders to advance matters efficiently and effectively. The work will span research, motion practice, discovery, depositions, and courtroom advocacy in a fast-paced legal environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $118,900 – $186,550 annually

Responsibilities

• Research laws and prepare legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda


• Render opinions on liability, damages, and value for the Claims Department


• Prepare and handle pleadings, motions, and discovery


• Defend assigned matters by trial or dispositive hearing


• Conduct depositions and examinations under oath

Qualifications
