Job summary

Ladders is seeking an Associate Counsel for a remote position based in the United States, with work primarily in insurance defense and personal injury litigation. The role supports the Claims Department and involves advising on risk, liability, and damages, and representing the company in contested proceedings.

Location: Remote - US-based candidates only. Compensation ranges from $118,900 to $186,550 annually. Strong written communication and NY Bar admission are essential.

Qualifications

• 2–6+ years of litigation experience in insurance defense and/or personal injury.
• Juris Doctor degree required.
• Admission to the New York Bar required.
• Licensed in good standing to practice law in New York.
• Ability to travel for trials, hearings, and depositions.
• Strong written communication skills for clear documentation.
• Proficient in following complex instructions and conflict resolution.

Responsibilities

• Research laws and prepare legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.
• Provide opinions on liability, damages, and value for the Claims Department.
• Prepare and handle pleadings, motions, and discovery.
• Defend assigned matters by trial or dispositive hearing.

For our client, we are seeking a Associate Counsel - Bronx, NY (Remote) to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space.

This role will support litigation matters across insurance defense and personal injury work, providing practical legal guidance that helps the organization evaluate risk, liability, and damages. The attorney will partner closely with the Claims Department and other internal stakeholders to prepare cases, advise on legal strategy, and represent the company in contested proceedings. This is a strong opportunity for a litigation attorney who wants to contribute in a fast-paced insurance environment while managing a varied docket of matters.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $118,900 – $186,550 annually
