Job summary

FANUC America Corporation in Rochester Hills, MI is seeking an Associate Field Service Engineer to perform on-site repair, troubleshooting and maintenance for CNCs and related peripheral equipment. Travel within Michigan up to 80–90% of the time, with some overnight trips and occasional air travel for training.

You will work under supervision to diagnose issues, service CNC components, and maintain equipment while documenting work and learning company procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to diagnose issues and effectively solve problems.
• Ability to evaluate, select, and adapt engineering solutions to meet application requirements.
• Ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies, concepts, and methodologies to remain current with industry advancements.
• Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal presentation of technical information.
• Flexibility in traveling 80% - 90% to customer sites.
• Must have or be able to obtain a valid driver's license and be able to legally operate a rental vehicle in the U.S. and Canada for business travel.

Who You Are

The Associate Field Service Engineer will be responsible for providing FANUC America Corporation customers with onsite repair, troubleshooting and / or maintenance services for CNC’s and related peripheral equipment.

Reporting to our Rochester Hills, MI. office, the Associate Field Service Engineer will provide support to customers in the state of Michigan with on-site repair, troubleshooting and /or maintenance services for CNC’s and related system peripheral equipment.

How It's Done

• Provide maintenance and troubleshooting for CNCs, servo, spindle drive and motor products. Investigate customer complaints and perform analysis to determine the cause(s). Operate with consistent support of Supervisor/Manager
• Actively participate in on-the-job training and classroom instruction
• Understand and promote the company goal of exceeding customer expectations while learning how to deal with customers
• Report quality problems to the appropriate manager/supervisor as they are encountered
• Control inventory as assigned
• Learn service operations, procedures and policies, including timely and accurate submission of required paperwork
• Maintain all company-provided equipment, including tools
• Travel as required within company-provided directions and guidelines
• Travel to customer sites with some overnight travel
• Able to travel by airplane for training purposes/ meetings as needed
• Supervisor/Manager provides detailed instructions and screens assignments to ensure a proper match for the Service
• Engineer’s level of expertise
• Appropriate diagnosis, repair and parts needs will be discussed with the Supervisor/Manager
• Frequently work with a more senior-level Field Service Engineer

What You Need

• High School Diploma or GED
• Transport equipment and parts (weighing up to 75 pounds) to customer locations
• Ability to diagnose issues and effectively solve problems
• Ability to evaluate, select, and adapt engineering solutions to meet application requirements
• Ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies, concepts, and methodologies to remain current with industry advancements
• Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal presentation of technical information
• Ability to diagnose issues and effectively use diagnostic tools
• Flexibility in traveling 80% - 90% to customer sites
• Must have or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license and be able to legally operate a rental vehicle in the U.S. and Canada for business travel.

What Would Be Even Better

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Electronics or Mechatronics, Technical Trade School graduate and/or relevant work experience in a related field
• Two years of relevant experience in a technical customer support or field service environment
• Previous CNC exposure or experience
