Job summary

FANUC America Corporation is seeking an Associate Field Service Engineer to perform on-site repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of CNCs and related equipment in the Midwest region. You will travel to customer sites, sometimes staying 2–8 nights per month, and work under the guidance of a supervisor to diagnose and fix complex issues.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; technical customer support experience preferred.
• Familiarity with electrical components such as relays, circuit breakers, sensors, and motors.
• Ability to lift/move tools up to 75 lbs to customer locations.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills for equipment issues.
• Ability to analyze problems and adapt approaches as needed.
• Quick learner with ability to apply new concepts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Strong CNC troubleshooting and diagnostics.
• Willingness to travel 80–90% to customer sites.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel across service area.

Who You Are

The Associate Mechatronics Field Engineer will be responsible for providing FANUC America Corporation customers with onsite repair, troubleshooting and / or maintenance services for CNC's and related peripheral equipment.

Reporting to our Hoffman Estates, IL office, the Associate Field Service Engineer will provide support to customers in Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan with on-site repair, troubleshooting and /or maintenance services for CNC's and related system peripheral equipment.

How It's Done

• Provide maintenance and troubleshooting for CNC machines, including servo, spindle drives, and motor systems; investigate customer issues and perform root cause analysis, operating under the guidance of the Supervisor/Manager
• Participate in structured training programs, including on-the-job and classroom learning
• Support the company's commitment to exceeding customer expectations while building effective customer service skills
• Ensure all quality-related concerns are communicated promptly to the appropriate Supervisor/Manager
• Manage and control assigned inventory to ensure accuracy and availability Learn and follow service operations, procedures, and company policies, including accurate and timely submission of required documentation
• Maintain and safeguard company-issued tools and equipment
• Travel to customer sites as required, including 2-8 overnight stays per month, and ability to travel by air for training and meetings in accordance with company guidelines
• Operate under direction of Supervisor/Manager, who provides detailed guidance and matches assignments to experience level
• Collaborate with Supervisor/Manager to determine appropriate diagnosis, repair actions, and parts requirements, while frequently working alongside senior-level Field Service Engineers

What You Need

• High School Diploma or GED Proven experience providing customer support preferably in a technical customer-facing role or field service environment
• Familiarity with common electrical components such as relays, circuit breakers, sensors, and motors
• Maintain tools and equipment while transporting parts and materials (up to 75 lbs) to customer locations
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills in identifying and resolving equipment issues
• Ability to analyze problems, select preliminary solutions, and adapt approaches as needed
• Ability to learn quickly and effectively apply new concepts to changing technical environmentsExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills in CNC systems and related equipment
• Flexibility in traveling 80% - 90% to customer sites
• Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license and maintain a personal vehicle for business use, with the ability to travel throughout the assigned service area as required

What Would Be Even Better

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Electronics or Mechatronics, Technical Trade School graduate and/or relevant work experience in a related field
• Two years of relevant experience in a technical customer support or field service environment

FANUC American is seeking a qualified applicant for an Associate Field Service Engineer role. The pay range for this position is $53,578 - $85,948 per year. The pay range listed is based on both salary and other compensation, including bonuses and profit sharing, that an employee may be paid during their employment with FANUC America. Benefits include medical insurance, 401k savings, paid vacation, vision insurance, dental insurance, tuition reimbursements, disability insurance, life insurance, and paid holidays.
