Job summary

East Bay Municipal Utility District is seeking an Associate Civil Engineer with robust structural modeling skills and a strong civil/structural design background to work on buildings, reservoirs, pipelines, buried structures, and foundations in Oakland. The role includes design, analysis, and project leadership with a hybrid on-site/telecommuting arrangement.

The ideal candidate has a civil/structural engineering background, PE licensure (or on track), and experience with seismic design, ASCE/

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in ABET-accredited civil, structural, or environmental engineering.
California registration as a Professional Civil Engineer (PE) is required; structural PE highly desirable.
Four years of professional civil/structural engineering experience, including two years at the Assistant Engineer level.

Responsibilities

Perform structural analysis and design for reservoirs, pumping plants, and related water structures.
Prepare calculations per California Building Code using hand calculations and SAP2000/MathCAD.
Design civil/site improvements including stormwater, grading, drainage, and landscaping.
Prepare plans, specs, and cost estimates for construction contracts.
Provide design support during construction and review RFIs and shop drawings.
Mentor junior engineers and coordinate with other divisions and agencies.
