Job summary

City and County of San Francisco is seeking two Associate Civil Engineers for the Structural Engineering Section within San Francisco Public Works. The roles involve design of new buildings and alterations, seismic evaluations, and repair of bridges, walls, tunnels, vaults and piers, with project oversight responsibilities.

Under general direction, you will prepare drawings, specifications, and calculations, supervise junior staff and consultants, and participate in meetings and public hearings.

Qualifications

• Three years of verifiable professional civil engineering experience.
• California Professional Engineer license in Civil Engineering.
• Substitution: none for two years of experience.
• Verification of education and experience required with application.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering designs, contract drawings and specs per codes and project requirements.
• Develop construction cost estimates and structural calculations.
• Provide engineering support during construction and operations; review conditions and data.
• Direct field investigations and respond to structural emergencies; ensure compliance with standards.
• Develop analytical structural models using ETABS, SAP2000 and related software.
• Supervise staff and consultants; review drawings, calculations, and test procedures.
