Job summary

Ascension is seeking a PRN Spiritual Care professional at Seton Medical Center Austin in Austin, TX. You will assess and provide pastoral care to patients, families and staff, and offer prayer and blessings to the community.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree; a Master’s in Theology or related field is preferred, plus Clinical Pastoral Education credits (ACPE). This position is on-site with rotating PRN scheduling and Equal Opportunity employment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master's degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Human Behavior or related field preferred.
  • 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) required.
  • 2 units of ACPE pastoral education preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, provide, and document pastoral care to patients, families and staff.
  • Provide appropriate pastoral care to local ministry and community through prayer and blessings.
  • Provide consultation to patients, families, and medical staff with ethical decision making and referrals as needed.
  • Assist in planning, organizing, evaluating, and implementing the spiritual program with local ministries.

How you’ll make an impact in this role
  • Assess, provide, and document pastoral care to patients, families and staff.
  • Provide appropriate pastoral care to the local ministry and community through prayer and blessings.
  • Provide consultation to patients, families, and medical staff with ethical decision making and values while making appropriate referrals as needed.
  • Assist in planning, organizing, evaluating, and implementing the spiritual program with each local ministry in order to ensure spirituality initiatives are executed properly.
What minimum requirements you’ll need

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master's degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Human Behavior or a
    related field preferred.
  • 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education accredited by the ACPE required.
  • 2 units of Clinical Pastoral Education accredited by the ACPE preferred.

Work Experience:

  • 2 years of healthcare experience is preferred.
