Job summary

Circle Surrogacy, part of the NorthStar Fertility family, seeks an Associate Attorney to support its legal team in assisting intended parents, surrogates, and egg donors through their journey. The role involves drafting contracts, reviewing insurance contracts, and establishing legal parentage rights in a dynamic field of law.

Ideal candidates demonstrate excellent communication, multitasking, problem-solving, and a keen interest in ART law.

Qualifications

• Experience in legal research on ART and related IP, family-building law preferred.
• Strong contract drafting and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to manage a caseload from intake to delivery while maintaining client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal research on assisted reproductive technology and related issues.
• Draft and negotiate contracts for intended parents, surrogates, and egg donors.
• Collaborate with clinics, outside counsel, social workers, and program coordinators.
• Assist with insurance reviews and appeals as needed.
• Communicate clearly and build trust with clients and third parties.
• Plan and prioritize daily workload and adapt to urgent matters.
• Utilize Microsoft Office and Salesforce CRM in daily tasks.

We are seeking an Associate Attorney to play an integral role assisting our legal team in providing services for intended parents, surrogates, and egg donors throughout their journey. The position will allow person to draft contracts, review and analyze insurance contracts and policies, assist intended parents in establishing their legal parentage rights and learn and grow in an ever changing and niche field of law of assisted reproductive technology. Candidates should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to multitask and maintain a calm demeanor in stressful situations, critical thinking and problem -solving skills, and an interest and/or experience in the field.

• Legal research on topics related to assisted reproductive technology and legal issues impacting assisted reproductive technology and IP, surrogate, donor relationships. Proficiency in West Law preferred.
• Contract drafting and negotiating.
• Managing caseload of intended parents independently from initial client sign on through delivery of child and return home.
• Working directly with clients and third parties, such as IVF Clinics and outside attorneys, as well as Circle’s social workers, program coordinators, and trust accountants.
• Additional tasks as assigned, such as helping other teams with various projects, trainings, and helping with insurance reviews and appeals.
• Effective communicator who communicates information clearly and adept at building trusting relationships.
• to prioritize your day and pivot when urgent matters arise.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Salesforce CRM
