Job summary

Orion Placement is seeking a litigation associate to handle high-stakes insurance bad faith and coverage matters on a primarily on-site basis in Los Angeles or Lancaster, CA. You will work with a respected team, handling pleadings, depositions, motions, and trial preparation in state and federal court.

The role requires a California Bar license, 2+ years of relevant experience, and strong knowledge of California insurance law.

Qualifications

• Active California Bar license in good standing.
• 2+ years of insurance coverage or insurance bad faith litigation experience.
• Strong knowledge of California insurance law.
• Familiarity with Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and California Code of Civil Procedure.
• Experience handling first‑party and/or third‑party insurance claims and coverage analysis.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative litigation team.

Responsibilities

• Draft and respond to pleadings, discovery, and dispositive motions in state and federal court.
• Analyze policies, claims files, and adjuster conduct to identify bad faith exposure.
• Conduct and defend depositions involving insureds, adjusters, underwriters, and experts.
• Participate in hearings, mediations, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.
• Research California insurance law and coverage issues.
• Collaborate with attorneys, experts, and litigation support professionals on case strategy.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and co-counsel.
• Manage deadlines and multiple active matters in a fast-paced environment.
