Job summary

BCG Attorney Search is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its immigration practice in New Haven, Connecticut. The attorney will handle family-based petitions, SIJ matters, asylum applications, and removal defense, counseling clients and conducting research for USCIS and Immigration Court appearances.

The role requires a JD from an accredited law school, active Connecticut Bar admission, and at least 1 year of immigration experience with strong writing and case management skills.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active Connecticut Bar admission are required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of immigration law experience with family-based matters and asylum work.
  • Ability to manage an immigration caseload independently and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Handle family-based petitions and SIJ matters for clients.
  • Prepare and prosecute asylum applications and removal defenses.
  • Represent clients before USCIS and Immigration Court.
  • Conduct legal research using LexisNexis and Westlaw.
  • Draft petitions, briefs, motions, and other immigration documents.
  • Counsel clients on laws, procedures, options, and case strategy.
  • Prepare clients for USCIS interviews and hearings; appear on their behalf.
  • Maintain organized case files and collaborate with colleagues on complex matters.

Job Overview

A well known law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its immigration practice in New Haven, Connecticut. The attorney will handle a variety of immigration matters, including family-based petitions, Special Immigrant Juvenile (SIJ) cases, asylum applications, and removal defense. The role involves client counseling, legal research, document preparation, and representation before USCIS and the Immigration Court.

Duties
  • Handle family-based immigration petitions and applications
  • Represent clients in Special Immigrant Juvenile (SIJ) matters
  • Prepare and prosecute asylum applications
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings and immigration appeals
  • Conduct legal research using LexisNexis, Westlaw, and other legal research tools
  • Draft petitions, applications, briefs, motions, and other immigration-related legal documents
  • Advise clients regarding immigration laws, procedures, and available legal options
  • Prepare clients for USCIS interviews and Immigration Court hearings
  • Appear before USCIS and the Immigration Court on behalf of clients
  • Maintain organized case files and documentation
  • Collaborate with colleagues on complex immigration matters and case strategy
Requirements
  • Minimum of 1 year of immigration law experience
  • Experience handling family-based immigration matters, SIJ petitions, asylum cases, and removal defense
  • Ability to independently manage an immigration caseload
  • Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills
  • Strong organizational and client communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in an in-person office environment
