Job summary

Welcome Law Firm in Connecticut seeks an Immigration Associate Attorney to join our in-office team. You will manage a diverse immigration caseload, represent clients in removal proceedings, and collaborate with staff to deliver exceptional service.

The ideal candidate has a Juris Doctor, 2+ years of immigration experience, and strong counseling and advocacy skills. Travel between Waterbury and Stamford offices is possible, and relocation is not offered.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• 2+ years of immigration law experience.
• Experience representing clients in removal proceedings.
• Experience handling family-based immigration matters, including marriage-based and fiancé(e) petitions, VAWA, U Visas, SIJS, and naturalization.

Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse immigration caseload from consultation through resolution.
• Represent clients in immigration court and removal proceedings.
• Handle family-based immigration matters and related petitions.
• Conduct consultations with prospective clients in person or by phone.
• Prepare filings, applications, supporting documents, and correspondence.
• Travel occasionally to CT satellite offices to meet clients and colleagues.
• Collaborate with attorneys and staff to provide exceptional client service.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a diverse immigration caseload from consultation through resolution
• Represent clients in immigration court and removal proceedings
• Handle family-based immigration matters, including marriage-based and fiancé(e) visa petitions, citizenship and naturalization, VAWA petitions, U Visas, and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) matters
• Conduct consultations with prospective clients both in person and by phone
• Prepare legal filings, applications, supporting documentation, and correspondence
• Travel occasionally to satellite offices throughout CT to meet with clients/colleagues
• Collaborate closely with attorneys/support staff to provide exceptional client service
• **Attorneys based in the Stamford office will work at least one day per week from the Waterbury office

Requirements:

• A Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
• 2+ years of immigration law experience
• Experience representing clients in removal proceedings
• Experience handling family-based immigration matters, including marriage-based and fiancé(e) visa petitions, VAWA petitions, U Visas, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), and naturalization/citizenship matters
• Strong client counseling, communication, and advocacy skills
• Adaptable and receptive to feedback, with the ability to work within established systems and processes
• Team-oriented with a strong commitment to providing exceptional client service
• Reliable transportation for occasional travel between office locations

Bonus Experience:

• Business immigration experience
• Connecticut Bar admission
• Additional Bar admission in New York, Massachusetts, or New Jersey
