The Governor Morehead School for the Blind is seeking an Assistive Technology Teacher to provide specialized instruction in assistive technology, collaborate with teachers, families, and external agencies, and support students in accessing curriculum and daily tasks.

You will train students on screen readers and braille devices, contribute to IEP planning, and stay current with emerging assistive technologies while adhering to ethics and school policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelord degree from an accredited college in Education, Special Education, Visual Impairment, Assistive Technology, Educational Technology, or a related field.
• North Carolina professional licensure in Visual Impairment (K2) or Special Education preferred.
• Demonstrated expertise in assistive technology and IEP collaboration.
• Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.

Responsabilités

• Provide direct instruction in assistive technology to access curriculum and daily tasks.
• Train students in screen readers, braille technology, magnification devices, accessible software.
• Conduct assistive technology assessments and contribute to IEP planning.
• Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, families, and community partners.
• Maintain accurate records related to assessments, services, equipment use, and progress.
• Provide professional development and coaching to staff on assistive technology.
