Job summary

The Governor Morehead School for the Blind in Raleigh, NC seeks a Computer Technology Teacher to provide engaging learning experiences for K-12 students who are blind or visually impaired.

The role involves adapting materials in braille or large print, integrating assistive tech, and collaborating with families, staff, and the community. A NC professional license in the relevant subject area is required. This is an 11-month position with an 18% supplement based on experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education with appropriate subject areas.
  • Experience or willingness to learn assistive technology and accessible instructional materials.
  • Ability to prepare course objectives and outlines following curriculum guidelines.
  • Ability to infuse technology, including assistive technology, into the curriculum.

Responsibilities

  • Provide an atmosphere conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of students.
  • Supervise students, monitor outcomes, and communicate with families, staff, and the community.
  • Develop and modify instructional plans and materials, including braille, large print, and tactile graphics.
  • Maintain records, follow procedures, and manage specialized equipment and assistive technology.
